THANKS for stopping by at our Web Page!

June 21, 2002:

This year’s Highland Creek Heritage Festival was the best ever!

Here are this years pictures:
Parade Bands;

Here is the entertainment you missed this year.

The weather on Saturday started off pretty threatening, and finally broke into showers about 10:30 or so...BUT, miracle of miracles, the skies cleared enough for “Toronto’s Biggest Little Parade” to proceed, and then stayed sunny all afternoon.

Attendance this year was by far the best we’ve seen in years, if ever. If there were 5,000 people here last year, then there were at least 7,500 here this year! The Village stayed crowded through the afternoon, thanks in part to the entertainment that went on till about 3:30-4:00, and thanks also to a greatly expanded number of outdoor merchants–at least twice as many as last year! The Karaoke Funfest in the beer garden rocked all afternoon, full of karaoke singers and listeners, right from 1:00pm to closing at 6:00pm.

The first prize of $250.00 in the Judged Karaoke Contest at the Karaoke Funfest was Julia Dunk, one of several great singers from Fossil and Haggis Pub. Congratulations, Julia! In Woody’s Karaoke Scream-Off, the winner of the third annual trophy was Carrie, who sings out of Jonni Blaze on Kingston Road. Congratulations, Carrie!

Qadesh the Siberian Tiger was in the parade, and afterwards set up on a stage where the attendees could get their picture taken with her. She was a resounding success. For the kids, we also had Shel Run Livestock in the old cemetery, and folk singers Ann Lem and Chris Evans and the Commoners in the Village.

Our community dinner and dance is tomorrow night, June 22, 2002 at the Legion. It promises to be a big success, as well.

The Heritage Festival this year was made possible by numerous volunteers, sponsors, and donors .

If you were at Heritage Festival this year, and have some suggestions and feedback, don’t hesitate to e-mail me at gmcconnell@fleurcom.on.ca . We need your input!

If you missed Heritage Festival this year, then put it on your calendar for next year! It’ll be on Saturday, June 14, 2003 in the Village. We’ll strive to expand our attractions even more.
