Originally from Woodstock, Ontario, Greg attended Carleton University, York University and finally the University of Toronto to complete an M.A. in History. After a four-year stint as a teacher in Thailand, Greg decided on law as his career. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and then was called to the bar in 1983. For five years he articled and then practised law as a junior to a well-respected personal injury lawyer, Paul Shannon. During this time he came to deal with Bill Comery (now deceased), and in 1986 Greg moved to Fleury, Comery.

Greg will conduct most kinds of litigation including commercial disputes, divorces, construction liens, estate litigation and even dogbite cases. Greg’s community involvement includes several years as Chairman of our local Heritage Festival. His favourite cases, such as estate litigation and appeal work, involve legal research and writing where it can make a difference.

Don grew up in Nova Scotia and is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School in Halifax. He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1988.

Don is primarily involved in injury and disability cases, stemming from accident or illness. This means negotiating and litigating with insurers and taking on insurance coverage denials. Don will also represent parties in property disputes, including representation of landlords in Divisional Court.

In 2015, Don received his Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall. Don has taught litigation at Seneca College. He is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

Retainer agreements vary based on the facts of each case, but in injury and disability claims, Don generally waives legal fees unless and until money is recovered for the client.

Edward R. Fleury, Q.C.

Edward R. Fleury, Q.C. (1929-2021)

Ed founded this practice in 1957 after his call to the bar that year. Some of his first and enduring clients were patrons of his father’s tavern business at the old Glen Eagle Hotel, where Ed himself had worked part time to support himself in law school. While initially Ed took on any kind of case, he quickly began to specialize in real estate and corporate/commercial matters after the late Bill Comery became his partner in the firm in 1960.

Ed remained active in the firm until the last year of his life. His wisdom and oversight remain an inspiration as we go forward.

With decades of combined years of experience in law, Fleury, Comery LLP is Scarborough’s most experienced general practice law firm.
